XD Abilities: Not only is an onmyouji, or a spirit medium, he is also the youngest and historically most powerful head of the Sumeragi family, a family who had served the Japanese emperors with their powers for centuries. As an onmyouji, he has the power to create illusions, cast spells, talk to the dead, call back spirits to his plane of existence etc. Most of the time, he was employed by various parties, both public and private, for different purposes ranging from exorcism to calling back the murdered deceased for crime investigation purposes. Personality: Subaru is what one would call someone with a Jesus complex. He likes everyone, cares for everyone and will stop at nothing to help somebody if he thinks it should be done, even if it's at the cost of his own life. But the problem with this is, Subaru cares for everyone but loves nobody. His twin sister, Hokuto, is always afraid that given his self-sacrificing nature, he will never find someone whom he would be selfish for, he would die even before he could find somebody special. Though of course, when he falls in love, he falls hard and will react self-destructively to any betrayal while still staying in love with that person. Subaru is also painfully shy. If confronted with any suggestion of an intimate relationship or any form of teasing, he usually reacts with uncontrollable flailing and a complete blush. Mostly non-confrontational, only willing to get into a physical fight (which he would win, being trained in the martial arts and spending most of his life battling poltergeists) if faced with acts of great injustice. However, despite all these, Subaru is highly dependent on his twin sister. She is the one who cooks for him, picks out his clothes for him every day, and arranges his schedule for him. If left alone, Subaru is highly likely to fall asleep on his feet and forget to eat until he's too weak to move. Background: Tokyo Babylon is set in 1990, Tokyo. At the age of 9, Subaru witnessed a strange teenager murdering a young girl under the sakura tree at Ueno Park. After telling Subaru the folklore of sakura petals being pink because of the dead buried under it and getting the innocent question of whether those buried under the tree still hurt, the teen went on to make a bet with Subaru: if he manages to make him feel something a year after they meet again, he would spare his life. After this, the teen wiped his memories of that meeting. This teenager later turns out to be Sakurazuka Seishirou, the head of the Sakurazuka clan who traditionally opposes the Sumeragi clan and assassin who uses onmyoujitsu to kill. They meet again in Tokyo in 1990. Seishirou is working as a vet in Shinjuku, close to the apartment that Subaru shares with his twin sister, Hokuto. Within that one year, Seishirou consistently and frequently proclaims his love for Subaru, but Subaru only realizes that he returns the feeling after an incident at the hospital where Seishirou got stabbed in the eye after protecting Subaru from the attack of a crazed woman. Overwhelmed by the realization of his love for Seishirou and paralyzed by the fear that Seishirou would hate him for indirectly causing his injury, Subaru makes a wish that he will be the one who loses his right eye instead.
